Sheriff’s deputies say a toddler had been on the ground before an unknowing motorist ran over him while backing from a residential driveway in San Jacinto Monday. The driver was questioned. The boy, 1-year-old Anthony Carreon, was taken from the scene on East Third Street to a hospital where he died. (INT)

Groundbreaking for the West Fontana Channel Flood Control Project will eventually remove nearly 2,500 parcels from a FEMA-mapped floodplain. First built as an earthen channel, improvements have been sought since the 1980s. The San Bernardino County Flood Control District is providing $64 million towards the project. (INT)

The Corona Police Department is the latest to deploy drones that it says will enhance the safety and service it provides while leveraging cost-effective technology. A team of seven Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certified pilots has undergone 56 hours of specialized training in preparation of Thursday’s launch of the drones. (INT)

Governor Gavin Newsom signed his first bills as Governor Wednesday, focusing on drinking water and fire recovery. Newsom journeyed to Riverview Elementary School in Parlier -- a school where kids have been without safe drinking water for almost a year. (INT)

County Clerks offices in Riverside and San Bernardino are preparing for one of the busiest days of the year for marriage ceremonies, Valentine’s Day. Because dozens of ceremonies are performed, couples are encouraged to schedule an appointment. The fee for the Public Marriage License in San Bernardino County is $89 and a Confidential Marriage License is $90. The fee for a Marriage Ceremony is $65. (INT)

The shooting deaths of two men at Lytle Creek has been determined to be a murder-suicide. The bodies of Scott Allen Beetler, 56, of Corona and Quitlahauc Pantoja, 20, of Anaheim were found last Friday on a dirt road. (INT)

San Bernardino County prosecutors have cleared four law enforcement officers of any criminal wrong-doing in a pair of officer-involved killings in 2017. The DA announced Tuesday that two officers exercised their right of self-defense when James Gleason of Victorville and Alexander Herd of Phelan were shot. The same conclusion was reached in the death of 43-year-old Harold Lynn Gunlogson of Phelan. (INT)

The California Transportation Commission has allocated $54.8 million for 46 projects throughout California. It includes $31.1 million for fix-it-first projects funded by Senate Bill 1 (SB 1). This funding allows repair or replacement of 16 bridges, 168 lane miles and 150 drainage systems statewide. Also to be installed will be 248 highway message signs, cameras and loop detectors to improve traffic flow. (INT)

Construction has started on Moreno Valley’s newest skate park, the latest state-of-the-art facility to be added to the city’s recreational line-up. Located at Frederick Street and Cottonwood Avenue, it is scheduled to open in early summer. (INT)
